School begins online in NYC for all students on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. At that
time, students will be able to use their DOE addresses and start logging on to their
google classroom. You have received in the mail or through email the name of your
child’s teacher. There will be a few changes based upon the number of students who
will be attending in person. Therefore please check your email for any changes.
Please note that there may be revisions to this document as the weeks proceed.

Each student attending bending learning will receive a band for their school bag to
identify the group they belong to on their first day of school.
Group A will receive a Blue wristband that should be tied to the child’s backpack
Group B will receive a Red wristband that should be tied to the child’s backpack
Group C will receive a Yellow wristband that should be tied to the child’s backpack
Arrival and Dismissal
Our school hours are from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Students will enter the building at 8:30
am. Each student will have their temperature taken by a staff member, and use the
hand sanitizer as they enter. There is no early drop off. We are using numerous
entrances to cut down the number of students entering at each door to comply with
social distancing protocols. ALL must wear a face mask to ensure student safety.
Please see attached map of where each grade will enter/dismiss from as well as chart
below. At each entrance, there will be poster of calendar days, as well as what grade
will enter. There will be staff members guiding parents to each location.
Pre-K = Door 9 (On 60th Road between 60th Lane and 60th Street)
K = Door 10 (On 60th Road between 60th Lane and 60th Street)
1 = Door 8 (Ramp located On 60th Road heading into schoolyard between 60th Lane and 60th Street)
2 = Door 12 (In schoolyard along 60th Road between 60th Lane and 60th Street)
3 = Door 3 (In schoolyard)
4 = Door 4 (In schoolyard)
5 = Door 1 (On 60th Lane)
6 = Door 2 (On 60th Lane)
Visitor Policy
If you need to communicate with your child’s teacher, please email them and they will get back to you. Please email our parent coordinator, Mrs. Yanez (SYanez2@schools.nyc.gov) for any other questions you may have.
Late Student Arrival
If students/parents are unable to arrive on time based on group and day and thus student will arrive after 8:45 then parent must call Parent Coordinator, Susan Yanez at (718) 821-7850 - ext. 1052 or (917) 600-1334 to arrange for entry into building. Please note this may take time and student and/or parent may have to wait outside the main entrance of our building for an extended time so that we can arrange for a team of staff and need to conduct health screening when student enters the building.
Early Pickup
If parents are requesting early pick they must email Ms. Jodie McBride at JMcBride3@schools.nyc.gov and Principal Berkowitz at dberkowitz2@schools.nyc.gov.
The email should include reason for early pick up, family member picking up the student. Any person picking up student must be on the blue card and have proper identification.
Busing
If parents have any questions or concerns regarding busing please contact Theresa Bethge at (718) 821-7850 ext. 2550 or at TBethge@schools.nyc.gov . Ms. Bethge will coordinate with parents and the Office of Pupil Transportation to answer or resolve any concerns.

Meal Procedures
Breakfast: Upon entering school in the morning, student will have the option for a grab and go breakfast. These meals are prebagged. Students will be able to eat a light breakfast as they enter their classes, during instructional time.
Lunch: Lunch is served in the classroom. No one is utilizing the cafeteria at this time. If you choose to have your child eat a school lunch, they will be delivered to the cafeteria. There are no hot items, and similar to breakfast, it is a premade bag. Peanut butter is not an
option. Lunch is an instructional period as well.
Supplies
Each day, the students will bring all of their supplies to school and home with them.
Jackets and schoolbags will remain on the back of their chairs each day. The closets are not being used.
Be sure your child has all supplies labeled clearly.
If your child is in the primary grades, snacks are not to be shared.
Student Registration
For Student Registration call or email Ms. Leonor Tholl at (718) 821-7850 ext. 2553 or
LTholl@schools.nyc.gov. Ms. Tholl will have a quick conversation to determine the reasons
for the enrollment and then arrange a time to provide parent with necessary documents for
registration. Parent can complete documents and return the next day to Parent Coordinator
Mrs. Susan Yanez. The school will review any documents that the parents have brought with them for enrollment. The school will make copies of the documents and return the originals to parents. The school provide a “Welcoming Packet” including teacher assignment to parents via email within 24 hours of submitting a complete admission packet. Parents can also use a digital form for online registration purposes Student Registration Form.
Parent Communication
If parents/guardians are not receiving school email, text or phone messages then they
need to complete Parent Information Form. If you need assistance please contact our Parent Coordinator at

DOE Student Accounts
Each student has a NYC DOE Student Account that allows them to access Google
Classroom and other online resources. If you do not have an account or forgot your
password please use this link reset your password here. If you need additional

Student Dismissal Form
To ensure a safe dismissal for all Maspeth Elementary students and staff, we are
asking that parents complete the student dismissal form by Friday September 21, 2020. These dismissal plans will be in effect through December 18th. Your help and
understanding are needed in order for dismissal to run safely and smoothly.

How Do I Meet My Teacher?
Whether you are a blended or remote only learner, you will have the opportunity to meet
your teacher virtually beginning Wednesday, September 16th. Your teacher will end you a link via email to join the Google Meet or Zoom.
